How to delete duplicate photos on iPhone

Scan on your device
Allow access to Photos. Cuka analyzes your library on your iPhone or iPad, and nothing is uploaded.

Review the groups
Open Photos and switch between the Duplicate and Similar tabs. The recommended shot in each group is kept by default.

Clean up with Smart Select
Tap Select, then Smart Select All. Check the picks, tap Clean Up, and the extras move to Cuka Trash.
Smarter than a duplicate finder
Cuka doesn't just match identical files. It understands which shots belong together, and which one is worth keeping.
Duplicates that aren't identical
Cuka catches exact copies plus versions that were converted to another format, lightly compressed or resized, then double-checks them at high quality to avoid false matches.
Look-alikes, side by side
Bursts and near-identical shots are grouped by what's in the frame. A 15-step slider, from Loosest to Strictest, sets how alike photos must be, and shots taken more than 500 m apart are never grouped.
Smart Score finds the keeper
Each photo is scored from 0.0 to 9.9 for sharpness, aesthetics, faces, closed eyes and smiles. The recommendation also weighs sharpness within the group and resolution.
Smart Select respects your choices
Recommended shots, favorites, and photos with a star rating or Pick flag in XMP or Photos are always kept. Photos marked Rejected are selected for you.
Cuka Trash is your safety net
Cleaned-up photos stay in your Photos library until you empty Cuka Trash, then go to Recently Deleted in Photos. That's two chances to change your mind.
Screenshots and filters
A Screenshots tab collects screen captures. Filter by date, country or region, people, favorites or score, and sort by date, size or group size.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between duplicate and similar photos?
Duplicates are the same image, even if one copy was converted, compressed or resized. Similar photos are different shots of the same scene, like a burst. Each photo appears in only one of the two tabs.
How does Cuka handle bursts?
Bursts are treated as a complete sequence. When you delete part of a burst, Cuka first copies and verifies the frames you keep, so they're never damaged.
Can I change how strict similar grouping is?
Yes. In Settings, Similar Photo Matching has a 15-step slider from Loosest to Strictest. Receipts, screenshots and other utility images always use the strictest matching.
Where do deleted photos go?
They move to Cuka Trash, where you can restore them. When you empty Cuka Trash, photos from your library move to Recently Deleted in the Photos app, which keeps them for a while longer.
