Smart Score
Every photo gets a Smart Score from 0.0 to 9.9 for sharpness, aesthetics, faces, closed eyes and smiles. Cuka recommends the keeper in each group, and when scores are close, it keeps the higher resolution.
Smart Select & Cuka Trash
Smart Select picks the extras in one group or across all of them, and never touches recommended shots, favorites or photos you've rated. Everything you clean up goes to Cuka Trash first.
Videos
Videos get the same care. Cuka confirms duplicates by file content, compares similar clips across several frames and gathers short clips and screen recordings, so throwaways are easy to sweep out.
Compression
Choose High, Medium or Low quality and see the estimated savings before you start. When it's done, drag across the same frame to compare quality, then keep the compressed version or the original.

Open an SD card, USB drive, SSD or any folder in the Files app. Cuka browses, analyzes and cleans it in place, with no importing into Photos and no second copies.

Yes. Cuka is free to download, and every feature, including scanning, review, compression, creative tools and the Private Vault, is available to everyone. Each device includes 50 free permanent deletions; moving items to Cuka Trash and restoring them never counts. Cuka Pro unlocks unlimited cleanup with a weekly or yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase.
No. Smart Score, face and expression checks, duplicate detection, similar grouping, video frame analysis and location grouping all run on your device, and your photo library is never uploaded to Cuka's servers. If an original is stored only in iCloud Photos, Apple may download it to your device when it's needed.
Each photo gets a Smart Score from 0.0 to 9.9 based on sharpness, aesthetics, faces, closed eyes and smiles. Within a group, Cuka also weighs relative sharpness, face quality and resolution. When scores are close, it keeps the higher-resolution version. Closed eyes and smiles only count for the main people in the shot.
Nothing is deleted right away. Items move to Cuka Trash first, where you can restore them. For your Photos library, emptying Cuka Trash moves items to Recently Deleted in Photos. For folders and drives, emptying Cuka Trash permanently deletes the files.
No. Smart Select never selects favorites, photos with a star rating or Pick flag, or the recommended shot in each group, and you can review and change every selection before cleaning up.
Yes. Add any folder from the Files app, such as an SD card, USB drive, SSD or cloud folder, and Cuka browses, analyzes and cleans it in place without importing anything into Photos.
